Radioddity QT80 (6666 pro clone)

Anyway, mine is on the way back because the most mine would do was 65 watts peak, and some times barely touch 70 watts if I screamed into the microphone. My previous Anytone Quad 6 did 60 watts AM and SSB just talking into the microphone. And yes I used the same true peak reading meter and dummy load, and the mic gain was wide open.

The NPC thing did work, but there is a cut off. Scott's Radios has a video on YouTube right now about it. I keyed 2 watts, and it was swinging past 20 watts to round about 25 watts. Two watts to 20 watts swing was no problem with NPC on. NPC off I think it was two watts to peak of around 13 watts.

Already returned for refund, and I have to pay shipping for a radio that's not doing advertised wattage. Hope you guys get a good one.

Hi have 3 of them here. All of mine do between 80-90W PEP on AM, and 95-104W PEP SSB. Better than advertised on 10m/11m.
Measured with a Bird 43, a Monitor Sensors meter, and a new calibrated spec an. All of the tests I have seen done by others with these meters, and also with an LP-100A also show the same results. Either you are unlucky and have a radio that is underperforming, or your power meter is not up to the task (this is the case far more often than not). YMMV. 73

Mine was measured at 104 PEP SSB on the RF Applications VFD and assorted other stuff you cant get at 1-800-HAM-BONE. Doesn't matter anyway, he returned it for refund.

Yes I have a CN-901, and yes it's using true peak plug in the wall power.

The thing is the Anytone Quad 6 no pro I have had for round about two years did the advertised 60 watts on AM and SSB right out of the box, and it was still doing the same amount when I sold it a few weeks ago. The buyer even emailed me, and said yes it's still doing the advertised power, and he was very happy with it. Never opened or tweaked the Quad 6.

Then used the same meter on the QT80, and it's not doing the advertised 80 watts on AM. Never did test SSB because I was frustrated by the under performing wattage on AM.

Pretty sure it's an under performing radio. I just got a lemon. It happens. Won't stop me from buying other Anytone gear. Sixty watts to 80 watts isn't much, but I like to get what I paid for.

If the power output was in fact low, it could have been adjusted rather easily, since you have a high end wattmeter.
 
I just got a new QT 80. Everything is ok except 15 meters. On 15 meters ssb power is around 7 to 8 watts. FM is 35 AM is 13 modulating to 60. I really got this radio because it would be a cheap way to do 15 meters mobile. 10 11 and 12 meters power is fine. . I figure power would be a little reduced on 15 meters but something don't seem right. Hate to send it back. Anybody have any ideas what it could be. My meters are fine.Power Master reads peak.SWR for 15 meters flat. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Check into a dummy load. I saw 49 Watts PEP on 15m with mine. Also, 15m is not guaranteed.

I'm sure they can go back over the radio to make sure all is right. I have never got super concerned over "advertised" watts from this radio or that amplifier. I have an Omegaforce S45-HP (rfx75) that is advertised as an 80 watt radio. Superior cb did a warranty repair on it and at my request I wanted a clean tune. On SSB it did 65 watts but had a perfect signal pattern on a scope. You can take the same radio and wrangle every last watt out of it and probably get 90 watts. All depends on what you want I guess.

There is nothing to "go back over to make sure all is right". There are no specific alignment points for 15m. The radio is aligned for the bands it is guaranteed to perform at spec. 15m, you get what you get.

I understand power would be reduced on 15m. Makes no sense to be doing 13 peaking 60 on am then 35 on fm then 8 to 9 watts ssb. I really wanted to work 15 meter mobile some. There's no trimmers to adjust so I know its controlled by software.I looked at service menu program. Not seeing any adjustment just for ssb on 15 meters. And again I know its not advertised as 15 meter radio. But everyone one talking about it doing atleast 60 watts sold me on getting one. 8 watts isn't going to do it for me. Guess it finds a home.

Clearly, the radio is making power on 15m, if you are measuring 35W AM. What are your SSB TX audio settings? What are you measuring power out with?

Power setting are wide open on 15 meters.My meter is an Array Solutions Power Master.Not a cheap cb meters. Birds are 5% Array Solutions is 3%.
