Sparky CB Shack turning into Jerk...

I have heard both good and bad from the man in the mobile bread truck. Very customer friendly and will answer lots of questions. Great for some things but complex alignments and other problems get farmed out to another tech. A plus for Sparky is a shop thats not on wheels and all work is done in house unless it's warranty work. I would still trust RR though.

i have met william sanders several times and he has always been helpfull to me . ive made a few purchases as well and been satisified with what i got . i will say his prices are a lil high but youre compensated with getting the instant gratification of what you want or need to have done AND not having to pay to have the additional shipping if you went the E-tailor route .

he is listed on another site as a bad tech because they say he clips modulator resistors . i asked him about that a while bach and he said he does NOT do that . he is another option i use to get what i want or need done .

If these techs just would be honest on what they do and not charge $50.00 for a Resistor and Diode off of the Regulator.Thats all a Rolling tune is.And Sparky cuts the limiter on the solder side of the board no big secret how to get loud modulation out of a radio.Just my thoughts as long as you are happy with what they do to your radio then all is good.

sparky does not cut limiters !!!!.
you should be ashamed of yourself for saying so !

darn poopheads !!!!!!

Well not only that but there is more to a tune then what you stated there silverstreak. Ask sometime and have them explain what a tune entails. The rip off shops will do what you said and be done in five minutes. If you pay for a complete tune from Al or RR there are a number of things that get checked and adjusted.

If Rolling Radio's installs the resistor and diode, then aligns the receive, puts the radio on frequency, adjusts carrier levels, checks driver bias, afew voltage readings, tighten down the antenna plug, make sure the board is secure. The good ones give you full service even when you can't see it.

Just check out Sparkys forum alot of his work is getting bad reports..

Perhaps you could be more specific in your accusation Undertaker. I watch a good many forums and have yet to observe a high incidence of displeased purchasers on Sparky's forum. There does appear a rash of people displeased with him not responding to a posting or email sent every time they can think of a NEW question regarding something they might/may purchase.

It would appear there is an expressed mindset that a small business owner is a failure to not dedicate all the time necessary, irregardless of the amount required to respond to every trite forum message or email inquiry. To me that indicates an individual's misunderstanding of what it takes run a small business.

Al or Sparkys only problem is he is a very popular tech . he has a life outside of the CB Shack and there is only so much of him to go around .
hey taker , were cool man . but the radio you had a problem with from sparky , what did sparky offer to do about it for you when you made him aware there was a problem ?

Unedrtoker has been bad mouthing Al for quite a while. He has no issue, he is just drinking the juice of another far less competent tech. He has been pretty much written off as a joke, and thats the way it should be. Bobby get a life. The only issues being expressed on Sparky's forum are related to undertoker and his buddies. No substantiation what so ever. They have been asked to prove their claims time and again, but they have no answers. Hmmm. Mr Doug here was a troll who put his 2 cents in here, and at Al's. Once again, baseless claims with no backing evidence. When any shop gets to a point where it has a fanbase, it attracts these trolls. Al's true customers have always come out in numbers to answer them. I think this is a good indication of the happiness of ones consumers. Bobby is angry because he was called out at Al's for trolling.

I have dealt with Al at Sparky's many, many times and he is one of the few I would say that would be honest, straightforward and no bullshit. He doesn't sell someone something just to make a profit; but to make them happy in their purchase and to bring back those happy customers. He has always answered my questions even if they were stupid and amateurish. So give him a break, he is very busy and has limited his hours of operation during the summer. So come Monday he is swamped with work and e-mails; but he will do his best to sell you or repair for you at an honest price and quality work that you can find in only a handful of places. So Mr. Doug get over yourself and realize you are not the only customer out there and maybe you have pissed Al off, you know what I will call him up and ask him about a reply to you're rant and rave and get this finger pointing over with and put it to rest. Next time take it up with Al first and if you cant get it done their then get on his message board and get the dirt started there.

Not to take sides or anything, but I can understand why radio shops/techs can get a bit grumpy. I saw it a plenty of times during the CB craze when I did some installs for a radio shop. Guys would bring their CB sets in for repair and the shop owner would tell 'em, "Now don't mess with this: it's set right where it's supposed to be! Don't TOUCH that and keep your swizzle sticks OUT of your radio!!" Sho 'nuff, they'd bring the radio back claiming that Jimmy (a real, degreed electronics guy with a 1st Class Phone required in those days) "messed up my radio") He did NO such thing!

"Uh, did you turn any pots?"

OH NO, I'd NEVER do that" :tt2:

He was LYING thru his teeth. Techs can TELL if you have turned something, lie all you wanna!

But the prevailing idea was among untrained folks, all controls had to be to the far RIGHT! All pots had to be "tuned" so that the CBer saw SOMETHING move on their cheap Dosy meter!

Yeah, sometimes Jimmy got a little "testy" with people because they wouldn't keep their fingers and screwdrivers OUT of the radios, then came blaming HIM when they smoked their rigs! :crying:
