Stupid things seen or heard at a CB shop

Ive been there. The place looked like a whore house and if I remember right they had some porn. Quite the place! I think its the same one anyway.
LOL i went to a shop once years ago in the early 90s (its long closed) and they only had a Dosy, a freq counter, and a multi meter.. I asked where the scope was and the other test gear. The "tech" said "I don't need that f**king hammie 'tard shit in my shop!" I walked out and never went back. lol

I agree they were made defective from the factory. It should also be noted that if it was so simple to overcome those manufacturer's defects that everyone would be doing it. It appears that this is not the case.
Last I checked you do not work on 2510, 2600, President Lincolns because they are not new. Which is it? Do you work on old radio's or not? If not you can not really claim that you do. No one cares what you used to do really just want you do now today?

LOL..... At least he had that. I went to a shop with a friend once and the tech was in the back behind a curtain like the Wizard of Oz with a light bulb and a pair of diagonal wire cutters! I was horrified! LOL

I don't have a beef with anybody unless they are deliberately trying to mislead people . I'm just a realist.
I guess the stupid thing I heard at the CB shop was that by simply changing a couple capacitors without altering the AMC circuit Mike could supposedly achieve High Fidelity audio. That was the funny part but Dave took it seriously and was dazzled by fancy looking test equipment. If it was that simple to achieve that level of fidelity, Dave would still be using this radio instead of selling it.

What's really funny is he was bragging about how great it was in that text message but he was secretly telling a friend of mine how awful it was and how many problems he had with it when he thought I wasn't listening to him.
I guess I'm just a stickler for honesty which seems to be lacking in the radio world.

It just goes to show that just because somebody has a bunch of fancy test equipment it doesn't always mean they know exactly what to do with it beyond a factory alignment.

How is Mike misleading people? What exactly would you have done differently and be specific? I think this is a put up or shut up moment! LOL If you are not willing to be specific and give up some knowledge than you are just full of hot air. Real easy to bust someone's chops over something when you are not risking anything, giving any help or teaching anyone anything. It is kind of like that idiot preacher that predict the end times and when the date comes and goes they predict another end time etc....They never explain their methods they just keep making silly wild assertation and hoping people will buy it. It is kind of like a paper tiger or a processor that has never worked in the field he is teaching in academia.

So you ready to share some knowledge {being very specific }with us or just going to keep trash talking? LOL

I am guessing you charge more than Mike charged this guy just to put a radio on your bench not to actually do anything? Back in 1991 I think the shop I worked at in High School had a minimum $75 bench fee that covered the first hour of work etc....I think it was $45 an hour after that. I think an alignment for SSB radio was $65 minimum.

Don't you charge that much to cut bulk coax that customers send you and put two connectors on?

I'm a union truck driver. I don't need to work on radios. I was a sonar tech in the Navy 30 years ago, but that doesn't qualify me to do this type of work. I pay experts to do any work I need.

="dave457, post: 614915, member: 8556"] Even though Mike's audio sucks in all three of your recordings, you'll have to take my word for it that Mike is my radio God and his work is the best.
Why should I have blind faith when reality says otherwise?
