X-Force 600HD Smoked

Good deal. One suggestion would be to pick up a large soldering pencil. The gun has the wattage but not much thermal mass. It's easy to overheat the transistor or the board with a gun because it takes so long for the solder to start flowing.Home depot used to have a good weller pencil with a fat tip on it.

Might even grab a light dimmer switch and make the temp adjustable if you don't have a soldering station.

Finally starting to get things together. Found this on eBay. Would this work?

Lol...old military gear, but...if and when one wants to solder terminals on 1/0 and up...its the only real ticket.

No thermal regulation on this bugger...she’ll glow cherry red during an August sun in the Carolinas.

Ugh. I’d have a hard time swallowing!!

If they are the real deal finals that's a great price.

Toshiba transistors at HG prices. I'm skeptical.

This is the trap that people fall into. The good reviews? Maybe from people who don't know any better. On the other hand, if I buy HG transistors, I stand a better chance of getting the real deal second best? I could get a set of 5 "Toshiba" and open one up to see if the die is correct. I am not going to get anything yet, I am going to have to think about this.......

I am aware of people buying some real Toshiba transistors on eBay at similar prices. However, they were not the non red dot pills they show in the pictures. They had the dots on them but it was still a good price. I'd actually be happy to see the red dots in this case because without them, you are almost guaranteed they are counterfeit.
