you need to try an external power supply so you will know if it is the radio or power supply. if the radio works with a external supply you will know you are wasting your time changing parts and not knowing if they are good or not.

Which way should the 2n5484 be soldered in I can't find the way for it to go?

Match that symbol to the spot on your schematic, follow the pin-out. Gate, Source, Drain - 3,2,1

Look at the main board, do you see a half circle or square with rectangle in front of it (silk screen printed on pcb)?
