Elecraft, another fan boy radio that nowhere justifies cost vs. performance. I tried the k3 7 years ago & head to head with a Icom 7200 they were about even. The 7200 was less than one third the price- adios k3. Also the tx imd of the k3 was horrible, never should have passed fcc certification.

It's just a bass ackwards roger beep with a different tone. In the old Mk3 the cap was 20muf from the factory, change it to 40 and it was about right, one guy put a 100 in his, you could shave by the time that one stopped squealing.

The ZL & VK stations have been coming in here in western NC on 40 between 07:00 & 08:00 zulu but with all the storms the last 4 nights down in the Gulf & off shore Georgia it is not possible to work them, just too damn noisy.

I have always used schedule 80 the dark grey type used for high pressure fluid installs. Holds up to uv better also not conductive. Also due to the thickness of the walls it is a better fit to standard diameter aluminum tubing.
