Hi guys,
Been a few years since I've posted on the board. Lots of radios gone through, and I'm now back to the old trusty Kenwood TS850S. It's probably my 5th or 6th I've owned over the years. I replaced all the failure prone caps, and put LED's in the display. Loaded it up with CW filters and...
I know this is an old post, but I am in the process of writing up a mod that does allow you to hook up an LCD monitor to the 756PRO series radio for an external display.

You can mount it either way.
Mag loops are very efficient if properly designed. The only downside is they are very very narrow banded. Great if you tend to park on one frequency, but if you are jumping around a band, say in a contest, you will be constantly retuning the antenna. I built one...
Hi Brett,
I don't have the Mark V Field anymore. I sold it and picked up another TS-2000, big mistake. I traded the Kenwood for a Yaesu FT-2000.
The desk top is linoleum self stick tiles I picked up 3/$1.75 at the local dollar store. It really dresses up the desk.
You can get dimensions for...
I need to get the 250Hz filter for the Field. I do a lot of RTTY work and really noticed it this past weekend during the ARRL Roundup contest. The 950 had DSP filtering that would go down to 100Hz bandwidth. I have to say, without the optional filters in the 1000, the 950 is a much better...
Are you talking about a receive panadapter?
If so, it is a suitable candidate. The 930 has a first IF of 44.93 MHz, which is well within the tuning range of the USB tuner dongles.
On the RF unit, a suitable tap point would be the RIF connector, this is the 44.93 1st IF signal (receive).
This...
Hi Brett,
Thanks,
I used 12V LED strip lighting from eBay, 3 in each meter. They mount on the inside of the meter covers, and fed thru the meter housing to the inside. I mounted a small 12V adapter inside to power them. Check out the Fox Tango Yahoo group for details.

Sold the FT990 and picked up a mint FT950, SP2000, Astron VS-35M and other gear. Really liking the FT950. Also made a homebrew 6m Moxon and threw that up on the tower.
Looking forward to spending cold winter days inside the shack.
I'd be curious to see exactly where you placed the ferrites. I have an American Standard Gold Series furnace that was installed in December 2014. It produces about an S5 noise level on all bands when on. I've read all the documentation on the net, purchased a bunch of different size 28 mix...
If you want to "key"at 2-4 "Bird" watts and output 2-300, why not just operate SSB.
Listen to all the mud-ducks on channel 6, so over modulated you can't even understand them.
If the contacts were welded shut the receive would have been full strength. This would have shorted the RF IN and RF OUT connections together. I'm thinking I may have burned out a set of contacts, not allowing the receive path to close. I have had no problems since putting in new higher current...
If you can afford an Aplha 9500 you wouldn't need to ask all these questions.
Buy what you can afford. I use a Yaesu FL2100B. 600W out 240V and works fantastic and didn't break the bank. If money is no option, buy an Alpha or OM3500 and crush the band.
Driving power varies with amp. A little...
I replaced the relays with a couple of TE Connectivity units (DigiKey Part # PB968-ND) and all seems to be working fine. I used two DPDT relays, and each relay has the contacts bridged to double the current capacity. This will give me a total of 16A capacity per set of contacts, where the...
