I think I heard ya down on 16 yesterday, but I wasn't in the pipeline.I was on 37 for most of the day and made some really good contacts. No fellow WDXers, tho.
Yes, I drop to 16 at the top of the hour and give a yell or two.I think I heard ya down on 16 yesterday, but I wasn't in the pipeline.
I'm ~100 miles away from Murray, KY. Probably too far tho, maybe if you had a beam on the flat side to match my setup or I orientate my beam vertical, which I have been wanting to do, we could qso but Idk. As far as techs, there is one in Holladay, TN on Hwy 641 about 60 miles south of Murray. Everyone says he's a good tech and a nice man, but I've never met him. Between here and there, many golden screwdrivers exist, so be careful.Last few days have been dead here, Occasionally, DX will roll in, then disappear. Not many locals in this area, a couple old timers and that's about it, and there's another guy 20 miles north of here, about my age. A few guys up north of here in the big city of Paducah, that mostly hang out on 26.875. A few more old timers down in Paris, TN. Very few people on the air in my coverage area.
There's a CB shop not too far from here, but there are no skilled techs around that I know of, so if your gear needs serviced, you have to ship it off somewhere.
Once in awhile, the DX rolls pretty good on 17, but as soon as you start making good contacts, and get a ragchew going, every lowlife under the sun, comes on with their 20KW egos, and their big mouths, and ruin it for everyone.
You won't regret it,Many different choices out there, just all depends on what your budget is, some advice, never skimp on the antenna for that's the most important piece of the setup whether it is a mobile or base setup!!!After reading this post makes me want to go out and purchase a SSB rig

Currently with my CB setup in my mobile i am using lmr 240 coaxial with an sirio 5000 antenna. You won't regret it,Many different choices out there, just all depends on what your budget is, some advice, never skimp on the antenna for that's the most important piece of the setup whether it is a mobile or base setup!!!
I would like to try my hand in 6m and 10m someday. I am still studying for my General's license but it's a slow process. If you like to chase DX SSB is the mode to use, with your Technician license you have space to play on 10 meters and it is just off the hook with propagation right now.
