uniden pc 66 XL no power

Check voltage on R111 feeder to Mic Amp from TX switch. Both sides should show voltage - else C94 10uF50V may be failed if R111 show volts on one side - dead on the other.

Here's a thought:
why don't you just go ahead and replace ALL of the caps and just get it over with?!?

The radio is old, the caps are cheap, and you can cut out many risks of future troubles . . .

Not a lot of people would really understand if anyone whom needed to repair a radio - was simply told - we replace all the caps and that will cost you $$$ amount ON TOP OF the cost to troubleshoot, repair and replace any parts that have failed.

This thread is; if not a good one, an example of cascaded failures - kaos is currently dealing with a lot of small fires as it started out with a voltage problem has now escalated into such an event you describe due to the original problem that caused all of this.

I'm surprised that no one answers this...

VR5 - and when it's (modulation is - that is) low like that, you have polarized caps in there too - so observe polarity - for Limiter works on potentials below Foil Board Ground.

A former project, hope this helps! Caution though - PC 68 but applies theoretically to PC66
