justa 714 washington state on 27.485 lsb while helping friend ,neighbor set his new mic. 714 came in booming and helped us get the mic set right. said we were both hitting him hard and he was hitting us hard too. great sounding station too
Sounds good,I'll try to give you a shout out!!I plan on being on the air around 4pm EST today. 37LSB. Gonna try out my quad 6 PRO.
my q 6666 didnt impress me nor do i like knob locationI got on the air with my Quad 6 PRO for the first time today. I thought that the receive would be good, but wasn't even close to my old 139XLR. Quad 6 noise reduction is fantastic, but my 139XLR lets me pull a lot more stations out of the mud. In transmit, the AVERAGE power out of my 139 was pretty steady. Average power out of the Q6 jumped around a lot. The 139's speech clipper is what raises the average coniderably. I will try a clipper on the Q6 to see if it makes the difference. All things considered, I like the Q6, but it still needs a few bumps to make it compete with my old trusty 139XLR. I will get it there, but definitely not there out of the box.

I second the knob location ! Not good for big hands. Another set it and leave it and hope the on/off knob doesn't wear out fast.my q 6666 didnt impress me nor do i like knob location
I'm amazed at the Radioddity QT60's RX, but the TX setup (IE;"menu") was the standard 'new rig rabbit-hole' --- almost reminded me of a Yaesu FT857D. That one was a real buggerbear to learn.I second the knob location ! Not good for big hands. Another set it and leave it and hope the on/off knob doesn't wear out fast.
I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the info. 73.I'm amazed at the Radioddity QT60's RX, but the TX setup (IE;"menu") was the standard 'new rig rabbit-hole' --- almost reminded me of a Yaesu FT857D. That one was a real buggerbear to learn.
J.J, I'm betting your TX audio range would improve greatly by a mic element swap. It's an electret element isn't it? If so, you might be able to swap it out for a Panasonic WM-61A, (or equiv). I don't know the specs of the stock mic, but I bet that the WM-61 probably has a much wider range. If not, it was a $15 gamble -- worth a try anyway. The difference it made to my IC-7000 stock mic was mind-blowing! The QT60 was ok out-of-the box tho.
Sorry J.J 399Steve -
I was on 37LSB from 10 AM until 3:30 PM. Channel was full of DX
Called out for you every 15 minutes or so, but never a response. Talked to three other stations in PA. Also Other stations in the NE corner - Massachusettes, Rhode Island, New York, etc. So the path was open. Try again later today.
